How to choose a farm and biomass machine
Tractor PTO or its own engine
The coconut shredder runs off an 18 to 35 HP tractor PTO, so it goes where the tractor goes. The wood chipper carries its own 7.5 to 13.5 HP petrol or diesel engine and works away from the tractor and away from power.
Fronds and husk or branches
The shredder takes coconut fronds, husk and farm waste with its 36 plus 6 plus 1 blade set and gives 30 to 40 mm pieces for mulch and compost. The chipper takes 800 kg an hour of branches, fronds and pruning wood for chips and boiler fuel.
Mulch, compost or fuel
Shredded fronds spread as mulch around the palms and hold moisture through summer. Wood chips dry for boiler fuel or go to a compost yard.
